FFA Motto
Learning to Do
Doing to Learn
Earning to Live
Living to Serve

1.  FFA gives away over $3 million in scholarship every year to active members.

2.  To increase a students chance to get scholarships, they should participate in as many activities as possible.  Running
for an office above the chapter level is also a very good idea. (See #10)

3.  Scholarship applications are due by February 1 of the students senior year.

4.  FFA was established in 1928.

5.  Girls were allowed into FFA in 1969.
-Now girls are a majority of FFA chapters

6.  As of 1988, FFA no longer stands for Future Farmers of America.  Our organization is now called the "FFA
Organzation".  This change was made to go along with changing times and many members having an interest in
     agriculture but not farming.

7.   Ag education is supposed to consist of 3 parts:  Classroom instruction, FFA, and a Supervised Agriculture Experience.
That is why students in FFA are required to be in 1 semester of Ag Classes per year.

8.  The Supervised Agriculture Experience (SAE) is the students opportunity to live out part of the FFA Motto, "Doing to
Learn".  The SAE is designed to let students apply what they have learned in class in an outside setting.  This can
range from raising an animal, interning at a feed store or veterinary clinic, raising a garden, researching agriculture,
and many other activities.  We encourage students to speak with an ag teacher about SAE opportunities.

9.  Texas has the most FFA members (over 80,000) and chapters (over 1,000) in the nation.

10.  FFA Hierarchy:
    -National FFA Organization
    -State FFA Organization (Texas)
    -Area FFA Organization (Area III)
    -District FFA Organization (District VI)
    -FFA Chapter (Clear Springs)
